"Big Cedar"

I was wandering around in our woods, and as usual, looking for something interesting . In a marshy area near the lean-to I saw the remains of an old cedar stump. The tree had been blown down some years before and the trunk salvaged for fence posts. The roots of the remaining stump were half pulled from the ground and were partly rotted.

I dug and chopped around the roots and finally was able to pull the stump out with our tractor.

After hauling it home I began to work on it, cutting here and there, removing the bark, and cleaning out the rotted part. You will notice it is quite hollow inside.

Here Big Cedar Animal was born!

Apparently his head had been cut off with the fence posts. But down below, with it's nose pointed downward is the appearance of a new head. Was it "regeneration" in process? An animal growing a new head?

Big Cedar Lives on.
